Claiming Republicans are “bamboozlin’ folks” for advocating tax cut policies to spur job growth, a “derisive” Barack Obama gave what the New York Daily News called “a red meat speech,” “preaching to a political choir at the winter meeting of the Democratic National Committee.”

Obama also found time to take a shot at at least one likely Republican vying for the GOP’s 2016 nomination, Sen. Rand Paul.

Obama mentioned only one Republican by name as he recycled a nearly two-year-old comment by Sen. Rand Paul, who will probably run for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination. Rand had declared: “We need a Republican Party that shows up on the South Side of Chicago and shouts at the top of our lungs, ‘We are the party of jobs and opportunity! The GOP is the ticket to the middle class.’”

Obama underscored his South Side personal history and the coincidence of his having been there the day before.

“I guarantee you that Senator Paul would be welcome there. We are a friendly bunch,” he said.
