Wednesday at the White House press briefing, several members of the press grilled press secretary Josh Earnest over recent examples of the administration “tip-toeing” around naming Christian or Jewish victims but rushing to the defense of Muslims.
It started with Fox News chief White House correspondent Ed Henry pressing Earnest on the difference between the president’s statement on the killing of three Chapel Hill Muslim college students, mentioning their faith before the investigation has even concluded motive, as compared to the administration’s statement on ISIS’ mass beheading of 21 Coptic Christians on a Libyan beach, which failed to mention their faith.
Next, White House correspondent and political analyst for The Daily Banter Tommy Christopher challenged Earnest to task over State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf’s willingness to discuss “militant Christian organizations” on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” this morning when the administration refuses to use the term radical Islam.
Finally, George Condon, the White House correspondent for National Journal said, “You do seem to be tip toeing around who the victims are.”
Earnest tried his best to rebuke the claims, repeating several times that the White House strongly condemns attacks on people based on their faith.
