On February 9, a woman home alone in Madison County, Alabama, pulled a gun and opened fire on four suspects who allegedly forced their way into her home.

One of the suspects–42-year-old Richard William Taylor–was killed on the spot. The other three suspects fled and were later apprehended and charged.

According to AL.com,  the foursome allegedly “went to the home of the victim…earlier in the day on [the 9th] asking to use her phone,” but she refused to let them do so. They came back around 9:30 pm and allegedly “forced their way in” the home.

At that point, the unnamed female homeowner opened fire, killing Taylor and causing the the other three suspects to run away. All three were apprehended the next day and have been charged with “murder, robbery, burglary, and criminal mischief.” One of the four, 29-year-old Jeremy Floyd Jones, “was also charged with theft of property stemming from a similar incident the week before.”

The female homeowner was not harmed.
