On February 9 Breitbart News reported that Pennsylvania’s Conoy Township posted signs which read, “This Is Not A Gun Free Zone.”
The signs were meant to let criminals know they would not find a town full of empty home or sitting ducks.
But WGAL 8 reports that some of the “controversial signs” have been vandalized via spray paint. This leads WGAL to conclude that an effort meant “to deter crime [is] already doing the opposite.”
Standing in front of one the signs, WGAL reporter Katelyn Smith said the signs “all say ‘This Is Not A Gun Free Zone’ and one day after they went up someone spray painted four of them.” One of the signs was vandalized in such a way as to block out the word “Not,” thereby making it read, “This Is… A Gun Free Zone.”
A township resident removed the paint from two of the signs and “township road crews got the other two.”
Two of the signs that were vandalized were monitored “by video cameras, so [the township] does hope it can find the person responsible.”
