On Monday, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) accused Republicans of being more afraid of DREAMers than ISIS.
Speaking on the Senate floor, Reid listed ISIS’s recent atrocities, including their burning alive of a Jordanian pilot, and the daily cyberterrorism threats the country faces. He then claimed Republicans who support the House’s Homeland Security funding bill that defunds President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty are “hellbent on playing chicken with our national security” even though “ISIS has bragged about coming our way.”
“It appears that Republicans are more afraid of [DREAMers] than they are of ISIS,” Reid said.
In reality, though, Democrats like Reid, by blocking the House’s Homeland Security funding bill, are showing that Obama’s executive amnesty is more important than funding the Department of Homeland Security to protect the nation against all of the threats that Reid mentioned.
Sens. Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) have made similar accusations against Republicans opposed to Obama’s executive amnesty in recent weeks.
