America’s second-largest health insurer, Anthem, is continuing to sign up Obamacare customers even as the company admitted late Wednesday it suffered what may be the largest healthcare industry hack attack of 80 million of its customers and employees.

Presently, Anthem has over 700,000 people enrolled in Obamacare plans. The company has yet to say whether those individuals were among the 80 million whose social security numbers, member ID numbers, addresses, phone numbers, employment information, and email addresses were hacked.

Anthem admits that it failed to encrypt the information that was breached, drawing outrage from experts.

“It is irresponsible for businesses not to encrypt the data,” said Trent Telford, CEO of Covata.

Anthem said on Thursday it thinks credit card information and medical records were not stolen.

“The company will need to manage the crisis well to ensure it does not see any impact on membership,” said Ana Gupte of Leerink Research.
