Wednesday at the White House daily press briefing, deputy press secretary Eric Schultz refused to call the Taliban a terrorist group, saying instead, “The Taliban is an armed insurgency,” several times when asked by ABC News chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl.
“I don’t think that the Taliban, uh – the Taliban is an armed insurgency,” Schultz said. “This was the winding down of the war in Afghanistan, and that’s why this arrangement was dealt.”
