CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta grilled deputy press secretary Eric Schultz on why the White House did not anticipate the “headache” proposing an end to tax breaks for popular college savings accounts known as 529s created among both Democrats and Republicans.
Acosta asked, “Did you think maybe you should have talked to the Hill beforehand?” as he continued to push on the administration’s decision scrap the plan after reported pleas from Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and other top Democrats.
