Prospective Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina will co-chair a National Women’s Coalition, which Job Creators Network (NWC) characterizes as “a new initiative aimed at broadening the organization’s mission and giving added voice to women business leaders around the country.”
Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Fiorina’s co-chair is Heidi Ganahl, CEO of Camp Bow Wow, the largest pet care franchise in North America.
Fiorina is described as “the first woman CEO of a Fortune 50 business and current chairman of the Unlocking Potential Project.”
“For the first time in US history, more small businesses are failing than forming. Small businesses across America are being crushed because only a big business can handle big government. And small businesses create most of our new jobs,” said Fiorina.
PR Newswire states:
“We recognize that women represent a valuable, specialized group of business and industry leaders,” said Alfredo Ortiz, President and CEO of Job Creators Network. “We wanted to create an opportunity for those who are well-positioned to leverage from each others’ ideas, input and vision on behalf of all women-run businesses.”
With Hillary Clinton seemingly positioned to be the Democrat’s first female presidential nominee in 2016, her party’s fondness for so-called “war on women” rhetoric and the importance of women voters in elections, the appointment is bound to be a political plus for Fiorina going forward.
The outlet continues:
“As respected business leaders and entrepreneurs, Carly and Heidi understand the challenges to economic freedom that stem from government policies,” Ortiz added. “We are especially pleased to have two women who have taken very different paths toward the American Dream now working side by side to bring attention to the problems job creators face. Theirs are corporate and small business success stories coming together to show what is possible if we can overcome these problems.”
Women owned business make up the fastest growing segment of the American economy, totaling more than ten million companies which generated $1.4 trillion in sales in 2014 alone.
“Clearly this is an enterprising segment of our economy that deserves every networking and educational resource available,” Ortiz said. “That’s where the National Women’s Coalition comes in, with the full support and resources of Job Creators Network.”
JCN is currently adding to the National Women’s Coalition Board of Directors. Notable members so far include CEO member Dawn Sweeney, who is also president of the National Restaurant Association.
