On Monday’s “Morning Joe,” host Joe Scarborough took aim at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, a prospective candidate for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.

In response to co-host Willie Geist’s query on how Clinton might emerge as a candidate that would fight for the middle class, Scarborough noted one hurdle to overcome would be who for which she surrounds herself.

“Hillary Clinton has just as many billionaire friends, and has led over the past 25 years the most elite, the most insular, the most Gatsby-like existence of any person in the political world today,” Scarborough said. “Her friends are at Davos, her friends are at Goldman Sachs. I mean, Hillary Clinton, when she said we’re not really that rich — do you know why she said that? Because everybody she hangs out with are billionaires.  I don’t knock her. If you’re president of the United States, if you’re first lady, if you’re secretary of state — guess what? You don’t hang out where Willie and I hang out.”
