USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page said that President Obama “has an obligation to talk to more traditional media,” something that he does not do enough, while defending the president’s post-State of the Union interviews with YouTube stars on Saturday’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” on MSNBC.
“I don’t have any problem with him speaking to anybody he wants, and this is a way to not only reach people, but to reach young people who can be hard to reach. The only thing is that he also has an obligation to talk to more traditional media, the reporters who cover him everyday, who know the issues the best, who ask the most obnoxious questions and press on them. And as long as he is also being accessible to questions like that, he does not do that enough” she stated.
