Wednesday on CNN’s “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) inviting Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before a joint session of Congress without notifying the president was “an episode of the bizarre.”
Psaki said, “I will let others be the judge of what’s appropriate or not. It’s certainly unusual. Obviously, we have a close relationship with Israel. We heard, as you know and have reported on, from Speaker Boehner, not Israel, about plans for the prime minister to come here. He has come before many times before. So it’s a little—was a bit of an episode of the bizarre today, seeing all of this unfold. He will talk about Iran and other issues.”
