President Obama challenged those who question climate change during his State of the Union address, pointing out that critics frequently “dodged” questions about the reality of climate change by saying that they weren’t scientists.

“Well, I’m not a scientist, either,” he said, asserting that he was knew a lot of scientists who warned about a number of threats.

“[I]f we do not act forcefully, we’ll continue to see rising oceans, longer, hotter heat waves, dangerous droughts and floods, and massive disruptions that can trigger greater migration, conflict, and hunger around the globe,” he asserted.

Obama also warned that climate change was a threat to national security.

“The Pentagon says that climate change poses immediate risks to our national security,” he warned. “We should act like it.”

At least some scientists, however, disagree with the president.
