Huckabee: ‘Nobody’ in GOP Field Has My Governing Experience

Former Arkansas Governor and Fox News Channel host Mike Huckabee said that “nobody that’s even thinking of running on the Republican side has the years of experience in actually governing that I do” on Tuesday’s “Laura Ingraham Show.”

Huckabee began by stating that he did not run for the Senate in Arkansas because he would be “miserable” in the Senate, and that the executive and legislative branches require different mindsets and thus “if you’re really good in one, I don’t necessarily think you’ll be all that good a fit for the other.”

When asked how he would compare himself to current officeholders, he said “I think I’ve been in the fight as far as being involved. I’ve been campaigning non-stop for the past eight years for people running, certainly been up on the issues by doing daily radio and weekly television. But more importantly, nobody that’s even thinking of running on the Republican side has the years of experience in actually governing that I do…I think the country lacks for leadership, I think the country lacks for the ability to communicate principles and make them understandable so that ordinary people can truly get it.”

Later, Huckabee declared that “if I run, I’m not going to spend all my time out there slicing and dicing the other people.” And “I think a person runs for president to build a strong America, to push back against the threat of Islamic terrorism, that’s number one. Secondly, to build some strong, sensible fiscal policies that help to see economic growth.”
