Like ‘Jaws,’ ‘Star Wars,’ Obama Uses 70s References to Pitch High-Speed Broadband

Wednesday at Cedar Falls Utilities in Cedar Falls, IA, President Barack Obama was spoke about increasing broadband access and referenced the movies “Jaws,” released in 1975, and “Star Wars,” released in 1977.

Obama said,”Basically you guys were like the caption in ‘Jaws’ saying we are going to need a bigger boat,” then adding a few seconds later, “Cedar Falls is Iowa’s first gigabit city. Now that sounds like something out of the ‘Star Wars’ movie, gigabit city.”
