Former US Senator and Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum declared that he can beat other potential challengers in the 2016 GOP presidential race and that he would announce his run in “several months” on Tuesday’s “Hannity” on the Fox News Channel.

When asked how he could beat candidates like former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Senator Marco Rubio,  Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and Texas Governor Rick Perry, he responded “a message…people are always saying ‘you know, Rick you were sort of the last guy standing against Romney and everybody else sort of fell down.’ Well, there is a reason for that. We had a very strong message that appealed to working Americans, people who believed that energy independence and the jobs created by the energy industry in this country and the opportunities that low-priced energy will create in manufacturing and construction, a whole host of other areas that will help working Americans, that connected with people…if we’re going to be successful as a country, we have to make sure the middle of America is strong and healthy. And I support and promote the pro-growth policies of the Republican Party that we’ve been promoting for 30 years, but we need more than that. We need to make that sure everyone is participating and that we need to be not just pro-growth party, but a pro-worker party.”

Hannity then asked “when do you think you will announce that you’re running, [emphasis added] unless you want to do it right now?” And Santorum said  “several months, you know we’re still sort of getting around. I had a meeting, I’m in Harrisburg today for the swearing-in of a couple good friends in the Pennsylvania Legislature. And I met with some folks here today, we’ll be meeting all over the country, and talking to people, and talking about the message…we have to have a unifying message as Republicans and we have to have something that’s going to bring America together. And that’s really, the next few months that’s what I’ll be testing.”
