After a quiet Christmas, dipping temperatures and snow surprised many parts of the Midwest with sections of Oklahoma, Idaho, Minnesota and north into Wisconsin and Michigan experiencing one to three inches of snow Saturday.
The wintry mix swept across the area after dumping a heavier snowfall on Washington and Oregon Friday/Saturday. Up to two inches hit Tulsa, Oklahoma and much of surrounding Green County. Snow also reached down into northern Arkansas.
Snow and harsher winter conditions also reached upwards into Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan, raising some travel warnings and dumping snow up to several inches depending on the area.
But much of that snow may turn to a sea of water as rains are expected to fall beginning late on Saturday night and into Sunday morning getting heavier to the south.
For a change, most of this snow and rain swirled around Chicago, missing the area and leaving Chicagoans experiencing only some colder temperatures than the mid 40s its saw during Christmas.
