Former NYPD Detective: Anti-Police Sentiment in NYC like 1970s Under ‘Idiot’ Mayor de Blasio

Former NYPD detective Bo Dietl praised the police officers who turned their backs on New York Mayor Bill de Blasio after two NYPD officers were executed on Saturday, saying de Blasio’s anti-cop activism backfired on him in a big way.

Dietl blamed de Blasio, agitators like Al Sharpton, and the Obama administration for helping create the climate that led to the chilling murders of officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu. The current situation in New York reminds Dietl of the 1970s when the Black Liberation Army was ambushing and executing cops during the “turbulent” decade in which he was a young police officer.

Appearing on Breitbart News Sunday, Dietl, the author of One Tough Cop, told host and Breitbart News Executive Chairman Stephen K. Bannon that though the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases had no racial overtones because the outcome would have been the same had Garner and Brown been white, de Blasio, Sharpton, and the Obama administration immediately jumped to conclusions and stood with the demonstrators and agitators.

He slammed de Blasio, who he said reminds him of a “big bird” who walks around “like a big idiot,” for creating an atmosphere that emboldens those who want to harm police and see them as the enemy. Dietl also criticized de Blasio for implying that his biracial son had more to fear when possibly dealing with police officers than in the high-crime and dangerous neighborhoods that police officers risk their lives to patrol.

De Blasio, according to Dietl, is most concerned with placating his union and left-wing allies. As a result, he said cops are told “hands off” and to let demonstrators “do what they want,” even if they are inciting violence or disrupting the city with their lawlessness.

Dietl said it is a “disgrace that our great police department have to be treated this way,” especially when gang members are talking about killing cops on the social media.

He accused President Barack Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder of using Michael Brown’s and Eric Garner’s deaths to divide he country. Dietl said the Obama administration, along with de Blasio, have also created an atmosphere where people believe that “this racism is going on” within police departments, which further incites people because they “start to believe it” when they are told “over and over” about supposedly “racist things” that are going on and are “so prevalent.” He said it was “horrible” for people like Sharpton for accusing the NYPD of being racist and said brave NYPD officers are “so upset” that they are being labeled as racists.

Regarding the Brown and Garner cases, Dietl reminded listeners that a black female police sergeant ordered Garner to be arrested and Michael Brown, after committing a strong-arm robbery, did not put his “hands up” during his confrontation with officer Darren Wilson. These are facts that the mainstream press often convenienently omit.

Dietl also reminded listeners that de Blasio is so left-wing that he went to Cuba for his honeymoon and, exasperated, said he just hopes that the left-wing mayor would just “leave the police department alone” during the rest of his term :because without police officers there is anarchy” and society will just go back to the cave-man days.

Dietl said that the current situation in New York has gotten so bad that he may start listening to supporters who want him to run for public office.
