A car occupied by thieves engaged in a high-speed chase with police after robbing a church in St. Petersburg, Russia, was purportedly struck by lightning and the occupants killed only minutes after fleeing the scene of the crime, according to Russian media.
The chase did not last long on December 18, when a lightning bolt is claimed to have struck the SUV the crooks were driving. In this case, justice was swift: the car was destroyed, and all passengers inside were killed.
Dashboard camera footage from a police vehicle showed the SUV literally blown to pieces.
Police reported that a second vehicle was damaged in the explosion.
