Obama Administration Will 'Authorize As Much Travel As We Can' To Cuba

President Obama will use his administration’s executive power to authorize as much travel to Cuba as possible in lieu of Congress changing the law that restricts travel to that country, according to a senior administration official.

The official briefed reporters and said that the administration wouldn’t be able to completely lift the Cuba travel ban, due to law passed by Congress.

But the administration will be “authorizing as much travel as we can” within the guidelines of the law, according to the official, who noted that authorized travelers to Cuba will be allowed to return with $400 of general goods, $100 worth of personal alcohol and cigars.
