Louisiana’senator-elect Bill Cassidy told Fox News Sunday what national polls overwhelmingly confirm: the Republican Party is now the party of the working-class.
“If there’s one party for the working person right now, it’s the Republican Party,” senator-elect Cassidy said.
Cassidy, who is himself a doctor, cited combating Obamacare as his top priority when he enters the Senate.
“It’s pounding the American people,” Cassidy said of Obamacare. “People are upset about this law, and we must do something about it.”
Indeed, even progressive New York Times columnist Tom Edsall says Obamacare’sredistribution scheme that siphons money out of the pockets of workingpeople and into the pockets of the lower class has turned offworking-class voters to Obama and has generated “dangerous levels” of discontentment against Democrats. A new Gallup poll finds that President Barack Obama’s approval rating among working-class white Americans has hit an all-time low of just 27%.
Cassidy trounced outgoing Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) by 14 points.
