Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick (D) said Tuesday he was “not surprised, but still disappointed” by the grand jury’s decision not to indict police officer Darren Wilson in the killing of Michael Brown, a black 18 year-old man, in Ferguson, Missouri.
According to the Boston Globe, Patrick, an African American, said, “I’m thinking about the Brown family, who I’m sure are reliving this tragedy.”
Patrick reportedly also recalled the 2010 killing of DJ Henry, a student from Easton who was shot by a police officer after a football game.
“I understand the incredible anguish of that community and other communities who don’t feel understood by law enforcement, and I understand that a lot of law enforcement don’t feel understood by the communities they serve,” he said.
