A gunman who opened fire “inside or near” the Florida State University library on November 20 was shot and killed by university police after refusing to drop his gun.
He wounded three students before being killed in what police describe as “an isolated incident [of] one person acting alone.”
According to CNN, Police do not know the gunman’s motive but they do know the library was “packed” when the gunman opened fire about 12:25 a.m. “300-400 students were inside, studying for final exams.”
The university texted students, “warning them to take refuge and stay away from windows.” And a video from inside the library–taken via cell phone–captured campus police over the intercom saying: “There has been a shooting in the library. Stay where you are. We will be coming to each floor and clearing and taking care of anybody.”
Of the three students injured, one is in critical condition, one stable, and the third was treated at the scene and released.
