Ted Cruz: Net Neutrality The 'Biggest Regulatory Threat to the Internet'

Sen. Ted Cruz fired back at President Obama on Monday after he supported the idea of the FCC working to enforce net neutrality.

“The biggest regulatory threat to the Internet is ‘net neutrality,’” Cruz said in a Facebook post, calling it “Obamacare for the Internet.”

Obama explained in a statement that he believed broadband internet service should be reclassified under Title II of the Telecommunications Act, allowing it to be regulated as a public utility.

But Cruz defied Obama’s proposal which put him at odds with companies like Verizon.

“It puts the government in charge of determining Internet pricing, terms of service, and what types of products and services can be delivered, leading to fewer choices, fewer opportunities, and higher prices for consumers,” he said. “The Internet should not operate at the speed of government.”
