Vote Like Your Guns Depend On It

With the midterm elections less than 24 hours away, it is important for red state and pro-Second Amendment voters to remember the gun-control votes cast by Democrat Senators including Kay Hagan (D-NC), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), and Mark Udall (D-CO).

All four of these senators are in red states or in states that vote like red states when gun rights are on the line. Yet all four voted for the Manchin-Toomey gun control bill in April 2013.

That measure was pushed by Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) in the wake of the heinous attack on Sandy Hook Elementary, although Manchin himself admitted the legislation would not have stopped Sandy Hook from happening.

But Hagan voted for it, and Real Clear Politics (RCP) shows that her opponent, pro-gun candidate Thom Tillis (R-NC), is running neck-and-neck with her going into election day. Landrieu also voted for the gun control proposal, and RCP shows that pro-gun candidate Bill Cassidy (R-LA) is running neck-and-neck with her as well.

The story is the same for Shaheen. She voted for Manchin’s gun control package, and now pro-gun candidate Scott Brown (R-NH) is running even with her going into Tuesday’s election. Udall voted for it too, and RCP shows that he is currently running slightly behind his pro-Second Amendment challenger, Rep. Cory Gardner (R-CO).

It is worth noting that three of these red state Democrats–Sens. Hagan, Landrieu, and Udall–were among those who asked Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly to stay away from their reelection races. The Senators apparently wanted to to be sure their gun control votes stayed out of the press and out of the spotlight.

But the gun control votes are getting press. Hagan, Landrieu, Shaheen, and Udall cast their votes with Michael Bloomberg and Senate Majority Harry Reid (D-NV) instead of pro-Second Amendment citizens in their states. Tomorrow, residents of North Carolina, Louisiana, New Hampshire, and Colorado need to counter this by voting for pro-Second Amendment candidates instead.

And in Iowa, voters have a clear choice in the race between pro-Second Amendment candidate Joni Ernst (R) and pro-gun control candidate Bruce Braley (D). Breitbart News previously reported that Braley supports Bloomberg-like gun controls, while Ernst rejects more gun control and strongly believes in the right to carry a gun for self-defense.

Ernst is the clear choice for Iowans who value the Second Amendment.
