Chris Christie: 'I'm Tired of Hearing about the Minimum Wage'

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ) blasted Democrats on Tuesday for their tiresome refrain about raising the minimum wage–a law that affects just 2.8% of the U.S. workforce, half of whom are 16 to 24-years-old. 

“I’m tired of hearing about the minimum wage,” Christie said during a Chamber of Commerce speech. “I really am. I don’t think there’s a mother or a father sitting around the kitchen table tonight in America saying, ‘You know, honey, if our son or daughter could just make a higher minimum wage, my God, all of our dreams would be realized.” 

Christie added, “Is that what parents aspire to for our children? They aspire to a greater growing America where their children have the ability to make much more money and have much greater success than they have, and that’s not about a higher minimum wage.”

Democrats have returned to the minimum wage issue in a last ditch effort to turn out low-income voters during the Nov. 4 midterm elections.
