A Texas health care worker who helped the nation’s first Ebola victim, the now-deceased Thomas Eric Duncan, has tested positive for the deadly virus, health officials announced on Sunday.
“We are broadening our team in Dallas and working with extreme diligence to prevent further spread,” said Dr. David Lakey, Texas Department of State Health Services commissioner. “We knew a second case could be a reality, and we’ve been preparing for this possibility.”
The Associated Press says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta will be conducting confirmatory testing.
