Donald Trump, Chuck Todd Agree: No Trust of Feds' Handling Ebola Because of Obama Admin Scandals

Business magnate Donald Trump and Chuck Todd have not always been on the best of terms, but they both agree that the numerous scandals that have engulfed the Obama administration are making it tougher for the public to trust the federal government on the Ebola outbreak. 

On Monday’s Fox & Friends, Trump, who tweeted that Obama was either “arrogant” or “stupid” for not instituting an Ebola travel ban, said that Benghazi, America’s wars abroad, and the IRS scandal have shown that “we have virtually incompetent leadership.”

“So why would anyone trust our government to handle this crisis?” Trump said of the Ebola threat. 

On Sunday’s Meet The Press, host Chuck Todd made the same point to White House Senior Adviser Dan Pfeiffer. Todd said that there is a “trust deficit that has been created over the last 18 months” because of the Obama administration’s incompetence. 

He put up a graphic “about all the different sort of government gaps over the last 18 months. Edward Snowden stealing NSA files, the VA faking wait times, IRS losing emails, healthcare.gov doesn’t launch. The president himself saying, ‘U.S. intelligence agencies underestimated ISIS.’ The DHS, the border failure with that surge over the summer, sort of failure, and of course, the secret service.”

“Why should we trust that what you’re saying about the CDC is able to handle this?” Todd asked. “You understand why there’s more skepticism than normal.”

On Monday, Trump said allowing many “unchecked” visitors from West Africa is “causing a tremendous problem.” He also said it was “ridiculous” for the National Institute of Health’s Dr. Anthony Fauci to downplay the Ebola threat and insist that there should not be a travel ban. 

Trump said it is interesting that government officials like Fauci are saying that “it’s almost impossible to catch” Ebola, “yet an NBC photographer goes over there and gets Ebola.”

“I’m trying to find out how did he get it?” Trump asked. “What did he do to get it? I can’t imagine he was touching lots of folks.”

Trump said it is going to be “interesting” to find out how the NBC photographer got the Ebola virus and said West Africa is “turning out to be a catastrophe.”
