White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest indicated that President Obama did not have an official position as to whether NFL commissioner Roger Goodell should resign as a result of the domestic violence scandal surrounding Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice.
Fox News White House correspondent Ed Henry questioned Earnest about the issue, asking him if the White House had a position on Goodell’s potential canning.
Earnest demurred, explaining that Obama hadn’t “commented specifically” on the handling of the scandal by the NFL.
Obama weighed in on the situation after Rice was cut from the team after the second violent video was published by TMZ.
Since then, the National Organization for Women has called for Goodell’s resignation after it was revealed by a law enforcement source that the NFL did in fact have the violent video of Rice striking his then-fiancée months before it was leaked to the public.
