National Review Online reports that during his hour-long debate with Republican challenger Cory Gardner, Democrat Senator Mark Udall somehow felt he had the authority to speak for James Foley and Steven Sotloff regarding action against ISIS.

“I can tell you,” Udall proclaimed, “Steve Sotloff and James Foley would tell us, don’t be impulsive. Horrible and barbarous as those executions were, don’t be impulsive, come up with a plan.”

Using the dead to make a political point in this way is an objectively craven political act.

Udall should be grateful he’s a Democrat. Were he a Republican, this clip would dominate cable news for the next 36 hours.
