With Democratic candidates set to face an angry midterm electorate in just 71 days, some Democrats are blasting First Lady Michelle Obama for inaction in helping vulnerable Democrats in tight races.
“I don’t want to say she’s been M.I.A., but she’s been M.I.A.,” a Democrat in a tight race told The Hill on Monday.
Another top Democrat on Capitol Hill groused, “What has she done? There’s nothing to point to.”
Analysts say they expect Michelle Obama to show up on the campaign trail eventually.
“The question isn’t will she or won’t she?” another Democrat said. “It’s how much time she’ll devote and if it’ll be too little, too late.”
The Obamas returned today from a two-week Martha’s Vineyard vacation at the $12 million mansion of a top Democratic Party donor. President Barack Obama played nine rounds of golf, frolicked on the beach, and attended a jazz concert amid the Ferguson lootings and riots and the beheading of an American journalist by ISIS terrorists.
The new Gallup poll reveals just 40% of Americans now approve of the job Obama is doing as president.
