Michael Bloomberg-funded Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is now pressuring the Kroger supermarket chain to ban guns in its 2,500 stores. Their campaign against the exercise of Second Amendment rights within Kroger kicks off on August 18.
To date, Moms Demand Action has run pressure campaigns against Staples, Starbucks, Chipotle, Chili’s, Sonic, Jack-in-the-Box, and Target to try to achieve gun bans. Staples kicked Moms Demand Action off their property, and Starbucks’ CEO Howard Schultz refused to ban guns but did ask those openly carrying firearms not do so in such a flamboyant manner.
On the other hand, Chipotle, Chili’s, Sonic, Jack-in-the-Box, and Target all asked law-abiding citizens to leave their guns at home.
Ironically, there were two robberies and a shooting at Jack-in-the-Box restaurants within weeks of their request that law-abiding citizens visit unarmed, and a Sonic in Topeka, Kansas was robbed the very day on which that chain asked law-abiding citizens to leave their guns home.
Target stores experienced two robberies within weeks of “respectfully” asking law-abiding citizens to leave their guns home at home, and on July 22, the retailer had their first post-gun ban murder when a man was fatally shot at a Los Angeles-area target.
The Huffington Post reports that Moms Demand Action will use online petitions and local rallies to pressure Kroger into instituting a ban similar to those at Jack-in-the-Box, Sonic, and Target.
