A hastily-organized rally in support of the officer identified as having shot teenager Michael Brown drew over 100 Missourians supporting the embattled officer on Sunday.
The gathering was held in downtown St. Louis outside the studios of KSDK News Channel 5 on Sunday afternoon.
Locals who joined a Facebook page in support of Wilson planned the rally. By Sunday evening, the page had drawn over 17,000 likes.
Participants toted signs asking for people to pray for Ferguson and voicing support for the police officer.
During the Sunday afternoon rally supporters raised money for officer Wilson. The fans also set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the officer, which has raised $1,800 so far.
Support for the officer is coming from many sources. Another Facebook page purporting to be from the officer garnered over 1,000 likes in only a few hours. Some sources say the Facebook page of the officer is a fake, but that didn’t matter to supporters who poured messages onto the page telling officer Wilson they are pulling for him.
