Sarah Palin Endorses Joe Miller for Alaska Senate

On Friday, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin endorsed Joe Miller for Alaska’s GOP Senate nomination before Tuesday’s primary. 

As Breitbart News has noted, Miller is in a tightening three-way race with “former Alaska Attorney General Dan Sullivan, who is supported by Karl Rove and other pro-amnesty Republicans, and Lt. Gov Mead Treadwell, who has said he supported a pathway to citizenship” for illegal immigrants. 

Palin said on her Facebook page: 

To restore liberty, to defend our Constitution, to build American exceptionalism, we must send fighters to the U.S. Senate who will stop Barack Obama’s fundamental transformation of the nation we love. The status quo has got to go, and in Alaska the man who understands this key to our state and country’s future also has the guts, wisdom, experience, and optimism to fight for what is right – and win. We said we’d send the good guys in Washington their reinforcements; so, Alaska, here we go! Vote for Joe Miller on Tuesday and shake off the liberal stranglehold so we can get on the right track. 

Palin’s endorsement powered Miller to the GOP Senate nomination in 2010, but he then lost to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, who ran as a write-in candidate, in the general. According to the Alaska Dispatch News, Miller reportedly said he would not run as a third-party candidate should he lose the nomination to either Sullivan or Treadwell.

Miller’s opponents have refused to sign an anti-amnesty pledge that reads, “I will oppose any attempt by Congress or the President to grant amnesty (any pathway to citizenship) for illegal aliens.” The winner of the primary will battle vulnerable incumbent Sen. Mark Begich (D-AK) in November.
