Ted Cruz: Bill to Stop Obama Deferred Actions Is 'Prospective Not Retrospective'

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke to reporters at the Senate about his forthcoming bill to address the border crisis, which he explained would block President Obama from granting amnesty to illegal immigrants through the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) order.

Cruz added that he agreed with proposed changes to the 2008 trafficking act signed by President George W. Bush but argued that it wasn’t the cause of the crisis, as Democrats have suggested.

Cruz explained that unaccompanied minors did not spike until after Obama granted amnesty to illegal immigrants brought into the country as children.

Cruz’s Texas colleague, Sen. John Cornyn, welcomed Cruz’s proposal as the “right answer” to the problem, blocking any future deferred action orders by Obama.

Cornyn said that he discussed the bill with Cruz earlier today, and supported it.
