Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid challenged Republicans for demanding that any legislation to address the border crisis should include a termination of President Obama’s 2012 Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.
DREAMers are a class of illegal immigrants under the age of 31 who were brought into the United States as children and were granted amnesty by Obama’s 2012 executive order, deferring deportation for two years.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) drew a line in the sand on Wednesday, asserting that any legislation coming out of Congress should prohibit Obama from expanding the program.
Reid insisted that the DACA was “widely popular” in the United States because it was “the right thing to do.”
