On Sunday, three more Democrats said President Barack Obama should go to the border to see the illegal immigration crisis first hand after Obama refused to visit the border while attending three fundraisers in Texas last week.
Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) said this weekend that Obama should go to the border and “own” the immigration issue.
Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX) said on Meet The Press that it is “important for him to get down there at some point” and predicted that Obama would do so.
Fellow Texas Democrat Rep. Beto O’Rourke said Obama already should have made the trip.
“I wish he would have come to the border,” O’Rourke said on CNN’s State of the Union program. “It would have sent an important message to the rest of the country about how seriously he takes this issue beyond the spending request he sent to Congress last week.”
Last week, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) blasted Obama for playing pool instead of traveling to the border.
