Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) said President Barack Obama should go to the U.S.-Mexico border and “own” the immigration issue.
On this weekend’s Political Capital with Al Hunt on Bloomberg TV, Gutierrez said the “world is looking” at Obama, and he “should go to the border” and “own” the crisis. He said it “requires the president” to do so.
Gutierrez also said the Congressional Hispanic Caucus will meet with Obama on July 24th and bring him a “menu” of executive actions to grant more amnesty to and ease deportations 0f illegal immigrants who are currently in the country.
Obama attended three fundraisers for Democrats in Texas this week but refused to go to the border.
Other Democrats, like Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), criticized Obama for shooting pool instead of visiting the border to see the crisis firsthand.
