Michael Bloomberg: CO Recalls Only Succeeded in Backwater Areas Without 'Roads'

During a Rolling Stone interview published July 9, Michael Bloomberg said the three successful Colorado recalls were only so because the NRA targeted senators in the parts of the state “where I don’t think there’s roads.”

Those backwater, roadless areas were Pueblo (Angela Giron – D), Colorado Springs (John Morse – D), and Westminster (Evie Hudak – D).

Rolling Stone took down the interview shortly after posting it, but Fox 31 Denver reprinted pertinent sections of it – including Bloomberg’s description of the successful recalls:

The NRA went after two or three state senators in Colorado where I don’t think there’s roads. It’s as far rural as you can get. And, yes, they lost recall elections. I’m sorry for that. We tried to help ’em. But the bottom line is, the law is on the books, and being enforced. You can get depressed about the progress, but on the other hand, you’re saving a lot of lives.

Bloomberg is former mayor of NYC and a strong gun control proponent whom Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper (D) called and spoke with while framing the gun control measures which Democrats heaved on Coloradans in March 2013.
