Texas Governor Rick Perry wants the Obama administration to use drones at the border to prevent illegal immigrants, most of whom are from Central America, from crossing it.

“We’re asking for the FAA to allow for drones to be used,” Perry said Sunday on ABC’s This Week.

Perry, who recently said the border has never been less secure and can currently be exploited by gangsters and terrorists, said the Obama administration needs to “put the resources there, and that’s boots on the ground.”

“Unless we secure our southern border, this is going to continue to be a massive amount of individuals that are coming to the United States,” he said. “And, frankly, we don’t have a place to house them as it is. And if we have a major event, a hurricane that comes in to the Gulf Coast, I don’t have a place to be housing people who are displaced.”

Perry, who said during the 2012 presidential campaign that those who opposed in-state tuition for illegal immigrants did not have “a heart,” said that he has been asking the Obama administration since 2012 for more resources, but President Barack Obama has not responded to his requests. Perry said Obama is either inept, doesn’t care about the border, or has an “ulterior motive” for allowing illegal immigrants to flood across it.
