Newly elected House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy took the stage at the Faith and Freedom conference in Washington D.C. today, thanking God for the amount of opportunity he had been granted in America.
McCarthy was introduced by Ralph Reed, who reminded the audience that McCarthy had a 100 percent rating on their values voters scorecard.
It’s a reminder that McCarthy has painstakingly maintained his record on social issues – earning an “F” from Planned Parenthood action.
McCarthy highlighted his career as a small businessman, celebrating the United States as a place where some one could start from very little and build a business.
McCarthy invited the conference attendees to his office, where he had two portraits – one of Ronald Reagan and one of Abraham Lincoln.
McCarthy also pointedly explained that he slept on the couch in his Washington D.C. office and went home to his district every weekend.
McCarthy added that as Majority that he would have the “courage to lead and the wisdom to listen.”
