On June 3, Gabby Giffords and Mark Kelly’s Americans for Responsible Solutions (ARS) detailed plans to dump money into “Senate races in seven states and in four House races” for the November midterm elections.
ARS is supporting Senate candidates who voted for the expanded background check requirements that were defeated in the Senate last year and House candidates who wanted to see similar legislation in the House.
According to the New York Daily News, these senators include Mark Udall (D-CO), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Kay Hagan (D-NC), and Al Franken (D-MN).
Kelly said, “It’s important that leaders from both parties who put their necks out there and showed some courage on the issue of gun violence prevention get to keep their job.”
He said ARS has decided not to “attack” Democrat senators from red states who opposed gun control, as those senators are facing challenges from pro-gun Republicans.
