Biden Tells Air Force Cadets to Create a 'New World Order'

During his address to graduating Air Force Academy cadets, Vice President Joe Biden urged the youngsters to go forth and create a “new world order for the 21st century.”

“I believe we and mainly you have an incredible opportunity to lead in shaping a new world order for the 21st century in a way consistent with American interests and common interests,” Biden told the cadets.

Echoing Obama’s claim that he was going to “fundamentally transform America,” Biden insisted that the first step to that “new world order” was to rebuild the US.

“First and foremost our work begins by rebuilding America’s foundations, our economic foundations, our moral and strategic foundations.”

While the VP made several allusions to Russia, he never mentioned Russian strongman Vladimir Putin by name, though he did criticize “the use of corruption and oligarchs as a sinister tool of foreign policy.”

Biden also criticized China saying that even though it is a world power nothing innovative has come from that country. “I challenge you to name me one innovative product, one innovative change that has come out of China,” he said.

Biden wrapped up his comments telling the Air Force Academy grads that “America will have your back forever.” Still, the Vice President avoided mentioning the growing VA scandal.

This is not the first time that Joe Biden called for the rise of a “new world order.” He made similar comments on April 7, 2013.

During his keynote speech before the Export-Import Bank Conference in Washington, D.C. in 2013, Biden said, “The affirmative task we have now is to create a new world order, because the global order is changing again, and the institutions of the world worked so well in the post-World War II era for decades, they need to be strengthened, and some need to be changed.”

“So we have to do what we do best, we have to lead,” he continued. “We have to update the global rules of the road, we have to do it in a way that maximizes benefits for everyone, because obviously, it’s overwhelmingly in our interests. This is not a zero sum game, it’s overwhelming our interest, that China prosper, that Mongolia prosper, that nations big and large, East and West (prosper). We have to level the playing field so that companies and workers can compete in the world, that the competition is fair and it’s healthy.”
