On Friday, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin blasted President Barack Obama and Democrats for their “disgusting” treatment of veterans while they roll out the “red carpet” for illegal immigrants.
President Barack Obama has hinted at more executive actions to ease deportations while Senate Democrats are pushing for sweeping amnesty legislation–along with establishment Republican leaders–in the next six weeks.
Palin linked to a column by conservative columnist Michelle Malkin, who has been one of the most relentless critics of illegal immigration for decades, in which Malkin wrote that “a government that fails to secure its borders is guilty of dereliction of duty”:
A government that fails to care for our men and women on the frontlines is guilty of malpractice. A government that puts the needs of illegal aliens above U.S. veterans for political gain should be prosecuted for criminal neglect bordering on treason.
After giving numerous examples from coast to coast of illegal immigrants receiving taxpayer-funded benefits and straining the budgets of state and local governments even more, Malkin thunderously wrote, “America: medical and welfare welcome mat to the rest of the world, while leavings its best and bravest veterans to languish in hospital lounges, die waiting for appointments, and compete for jobs and educational opportunities against illegal border-crossers, document fakers, visa violators and deportation evaders. Shame on us.”
