Susan B. Anthony List Targets Pro-Abortion Candidates with $3.8 Million

Susan B. Anthony List Targets Pro-Abortion Candidates with $3.8 Million

In a letter to top donors released this week, the Susan B. Anthony List (SBA-List) reveals its campaign plans for the fall elections.

SBA-List, through its Women Speak Out super PAC, intends to direct most of its firepower to Senate races, specifically targeting abortion-friendly Democrats Mary Landrieu (LA), Kay Hagan (NC), and Mark Pryor (AK).

SBA-List is counting on a couple key factors: “Turnout is expected to be low, placing a premium on grassroots organization,” and “the most vulnerable pro-abortion senators and gubernatorial candidates are running in pro-life states.”

Marjorie Danenfelser, president of SBA-List, is also counting on the fact that each of the targeted candidates voted for “the unpopular Obama takeover of America’s health care system, which means they endorsed the largest increase in government funding of abortion in history.”

Both Landrieu and Hagan have 2012 National Right to Life voting scores of zero percent, while Pryor has a lifetime National Right to Life score of 37 percent, each from pro-life states.

Of specific interest to SBA-List is countering the “war on women” meme used by pro-abortion Democrats. Danenfelser’s team has been encouraging Republicans not to run from the issue, but to fight back aggressively in favor of the unborn, since polling shows most Americans support severe restrictions on abortion.

SBA-List intends to open campaign offices in each of the three targeted states, spend more than a million dollars in both Louisiana and North Carolina, and invest $800,000 in Arkansas.

Besides taking the Senate, SBA-List believes that GOP and pro-life seats in the House of Representatives will increase. The pro-life organization is supporting Elise Stefanik in New York’s 21st Congressional District, Mia Love in Utah’s 4th Congressional District, and Jackie Walorski running in Indiana’s second congressional district. SBA also supports Martha McSally who is running in Arizona’s second congressional district.

SBA-List intends to spend a total of $3.8 million in the fall elections, far short of the $14 million promised by SBA’s nemesis, Planned Parenthood.
