A new Gallup poll finds that nowhere is the desire to move out-of-state greater than in Connecticut and Illinois. About half of the residents in each of these states say that, if they had the chance, they would move to a different state.

Illinois and Connecticut take the lead in the category of “States Where the Most Residents Would Leave if They Could,” according to the 50-state survey.

Illinois came in at exactly 50 percent of those polled, and Connecticut at 49 percent. Maryland was a close third at 47 percent. A bit further behind ware the states of Nevada (43 percent), Rhode Island (42 percent), New Jersey (41 percent), New York (41 percent), Massachusetts (41 percent), and Louisiana (40 percent).

States which boast the lowest rate of residents wanting to move out include Montana, Hawaii, and Maine, all at 23 percent, and Oregon, New Hampshire, and Texas, all at 24 percent.
