Manchester, New Hampshire — An aid to Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee told Real Clear Politics, “If there’s a door to kick down, she’s willing to kick it down.” The Freedom Summit was one of “the kinds of events you go to — test the waters, and see what the reaction is,” the aide said.
“Marsha Blackburn has been a conservative warrior in the House and we are excited to see her here in the Granite State in front of many grassroots activists at the Freedom Summit,” Citizens United President David Bossie said regarding her presence at the conservative forum. “Marsha is a serious legislator who should not be overlooked on the national scene.”
As of this moment, there are no known women planning on running for president in 2016 on the Republican side, and a Blackburn run has the potential to stir up a wide open race. Talking with Breitbart News Executive Chairman Steven K. Bannon and Editor-in-Chief Alexander Marlow on Sirius XM Patriot radio channel 125 on Breitbart News Sunday, she put on display her strong conservative ethos.
“Remember the first women to vote in this country were Republican. The very first woman in congress was a Republican. Four out of five female governors in this county are Republicans. You look at Susan B. Anthony, Lucretia Mott, these were Republican women. It was Republican women that started the suffragist movement.” Blackburn said “it’s time to tell the ‘Now Crowd‘ that you have co-opted the push for women’s equality and made it into something that it is not.”
Blackburn said she has worked on this issue all her life: “When you’re born on a dirt road in the deep south, and you’re five feet three inches tall, and you have blonde hair and blue eyes, people will tell you that they are not expecting a lot from you.” Blackburn said she learned how to push forward and excel, working her way through school by selling books door to door.
The congresswoman asserted that women aren’t about wanting free contraceptives, but that they want “opportunities, options and equal access, and to make certain that doors are open.”
Bannon added that the whole Tea Party Movement is lead by women. Blackburn insisted that we need to “encourage women to avail themselves of opportunities.” Blackburn asserted that women don’t need the cradle to grave nanny state as portrayed in “Life of Julia,” which is what President Obama wants. Bannon said that is the war on women, “because it’s saying a women can’t make a decision for herself.”
