It’s that time of year when high school seniors across the country are considering what college to enroll in for the fall semester. While weighing his options, one student discovered that in order to graduate from the University of Michigan, you must first take a course to learn how racist and intolerant the United States of America is toward minorities and different ethnicities.

Just when you thought that liberal progressivism couldn’t be anymore pervasive on college campuses, something as ridiculous as a Race & Ethnicity Requirement is discovered.

The page on the University of Michigan’s website that describes the requirement states: “All courses satisfying the requirement must provide discussion concerning: the meaning of race, ethnicity, and racism; racial and ethnic intolerance and resulting inequality as it occurs in the United States or elsewhere; and comparisons of discrimination based on race, ethnicity, social class, or gender.”

The fact that students need to take a course on these topics is absolutely outrageous–almost as outrageous as sensitivity training on college campuses. What if there was a requirement to take a course on capitalism and free enterprise? I bet that would never be allowed at the University of Michigan.

The intolerance of liberals continues to permeate the country as requirements like these are mandated on college campuses. The left disguises their hope to indoctrinate young impressionable minds in the form of course requirements–as if a Race & Ethnicity Requirement is subtle. Every student has a right to free speech and to their opinions and should not be subject to taking a course on something so absurd in order to graduate.
