Gun control groups working to push further gun control in California worry that state senator Leland Yee’s indictment on arms trafficking “may slow the legislature’s consideration of gun restrictions this year.”
According to AP California News, on March 27 organizers of more legislation said “the charges filed against…Yee, a Democrat from San Francisco, could cloud the future of two of his gun control bills.”
As Breitbart News reported on March 26, Yee supported an “assault weapons” ban in California and a requirement for background checks for ammunition purchases. He also co-sponsored an expansion of “the list of crimes that disqualify an individual from firearm ownership.”
The “assaults weapons” ban more than any other piece of legislation was tied to Yee. He not only voted “yea” on it when it came up for a vote but actually sponsored it.
Gun control groups like the Courage Campaign now fear this and other pieces of gun control legislation are in jeopardy.
