Spring has come to Washington, D.C., but keep the snow plows well fueled because the white stuff is still falling. The nation’s capital can expect another one to two inches of snow as the northern and southern jet streams clash, creating enough to cover sidewalks and roads, snarling traffic for at least a day or two.
According to the Washington Post, snow will come down along and west of I-95. So far, the majority of accumulation continues to be on grassy areas, but there is some slushy snow build-up on sidewalks and side roads. To the south of D.C., there have even been reports of some slush on major roads – like I-95 – in some of the heavier snow bands. At 8 AM Tuesday morning, temperatures ranged from 28 at Dulles to 33 at Reagan National Airport.
But watch out for heavy winds on Wednesday. ABC 7 Stormwatch predicts that whipping winds will be descending from the New England Coast, gusting up to 40 miles per hour at times. Although temperatures will be in the low 40s, wind chill factors should make it feel more like 20s and 30s.
As of March 23, Washington, D.C. has received just over 30 inches of snow, which is twice its average snow fall of 15 inches.
